WHAT IS (TCA1) - TELECOMMUNICATIONS CABLING FORM ?

The TCA1 form is a written form which the cabler must supply to the customer or building manager after completing the job.  It provides details of the cabling work undertaken, together with the cabler's registration details and a signed declaration that the cabling work is compliant with the Australian Standard AS/ACIF S009:2006 (Wiring Rules).

Cablers must fill in and sign a TCA1 form on completion of each cabling job.

Forms can be obtain at this link to download a copy of the TCA2 form

If cablers discover pre-existing cabling in roof spaces and other concealed locations which is not compliant with the wiring rules, then that cabler should high-light this non compliant cabling both verbally to the customer and on his complete TCA1 form. That way, the customer knows 100% if there are any safety hazards or equipment performance discrepencies both the cabler and the customer know where they stand.

A copy of the TCA1 form must be provided to the customer and your employer (if applicable).  You must keep all copies of your TCA1 forms for at least 12 months and these must be made available to ACMA inspectors or cabling auditors on request. You can make arrangements with your employer (if applicable) to keep your TCA1 forms on your behalf but, ultimately, you are responsible for them.
